On January 20, Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the next president of the United States of America. The agenda for his second term is likely to build upon the themes that defined his first presidency: populism, nationalism, and a focus on American interests. His policies will likely prioritize reducing government regulations, securing the U.S. border, protecting American jobs, and confronting foreign adversaries. While the specifics of his second term are still uncertain, it’s clear that his agenda will continue to resonate with a large portion of the American electorate, particularly those who feel alienated by the political establishment and seek a more nationalistic, conservative approach to governance. With these assumptions in mind: What will the consequences be for Germany and what expectations does the United States under a Trump administration have of Germany?

Together with Bryan Lanza, Partner at Mercury Public Affairs, we would like to speak about Donald Trump’s agenda for his second term and the consequences for the transatlantic friendship. Bryan Lanza is an American communications and PR expert, best known for his work in political communications. He served as the Communications Director for Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and played a key role in shaping the campaign’s media strategy.
