New leadership for the Friends of Atlantik-Brücke USA
Benjamin Vogt follows David Detjen as President of the organization. Detjen was elected Treasurer of the „Friends“ in 2008, and went on to become their President in 2010. His successor as President, Benjamin Vogt, was born in Berlin and grew up in Freiburg im Breisgau. After graduating from Harvard, Oxford, and Yale Law School, he began his career at Goldman Sachs. He is currently a Senior Managing Director and Head of European Investments at multi-strategy investment firm Serengeti Asset Management in New York. Benjamin is an alum of Atlantik-Brücke’s Young Leaders program (2013), as well as a member.
David Detjen looked back on his years of service for the “Friends”: “I very much enjoyed the opportunity to support the Brücke in a very direct fashion by serving over the years as an officer of the Friends in the United States — especially since one of the most significant tasks of the Friends was giving financial support to the vitally important Young Leaders program and also for a number of years supporting the visits of American social studies teachers to Germany. “ He added: “All the best to the new leadership as they continue the valuable mission of the Friends.”
Atlantik-Brücke’s Executive Director David Deißner expressed his gratitude to David Detjen: „We are especially indebted to David Detjen for his commitment and support over the last years. As President of the Friends, thoughtful conversation partner and passionate transatlanticist, David has always been committed to the mission of the Atlantik-Brücke.”
Benjamin Vogt is excited for the new task: “As a German citizen for whom the U.S. has become a second home I am excited to assist the work of Atlantik-Brücke here in New York through the initiatives of the Friends of Atlantik-Brücke. The Friends provide support for the Brücke’s various projects and activities on the ground in the U.S. and aim to expand its venues for transatlantic dialogue in close collaboration with the team in Berlin.“
New Yorker members and Young Leaders Alumni have a chance to meet Benjamin in person at our event with Jan Hatzius on April 25. Please register for the event online here or send an e-mail to event@atlantik-bruecke.org.
